I became a part of Panama’s young legislative parliament, where I was able to to present to our governing representatives, a law that I had drafted, which sought the creation of Integral Sexual Education courses in all of the schools in Panama; due to the high volume of early pregnancies and HIV infections in minors. I had the great oportunity of being crowned as Miss La Chorrera, celebrating the founding of my district, bringing joy and culture to the people who have seen me grow. I am Fátima Lorena Rodríguez Benítez, better known as Lorena Rodríguez, I am 26 years old and I was born on October 13, 1994. I am from Paraguay. I am a nutritionist as well I am a dancer and a fitness instructor. I have an exclusive gym for women in which I am working. I only have one brother who is older than me. I volunteer for the international Rotaract Club. In 2012 I ´ve participated in a talent program on national television as a dancer. I´m from a small city in the northwestern Peru: Sullana, located in Piura, the capital of the region. I´m just about to finish the Journalism career. I have worked as a TV Host and Reporter in my city. I chose this career because I think journalists are not simply editors, news anchors or writers, journalists are like the “watchdogs” of society. They are the most visible proponents of the right of free speech and they can help make people make better and more informed decisions. In my free time I like dancing, doing some voluntary work when I can, or spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy traveling too, and the experience I can gain from it. I’m a cofounder of Kuska Foundation, I have been working for disadvantaged people from my city. This is one of the things that feeds my soul. It´s an honor for me to be Peru in this pageant, which has grown to become an icon of female beauty and success. I know that through this platform we can raise awareness about the importance of tolerance and respect towards diversity, it’s of remarkable importance for the correct development of humanity and peaceful coexistence worldwide.
