| MISS GRAND SOCORRO, QUEZON CITY Designer: Nico Concepcion MARIPOSA In its metamorphosis from the common, colorless caterpillar to the exquisite winged creature of delicate beauty, the butterfly has become a metaphor for transformation and hope; across cultures, it has become a symbol for rebirth and resurrection, for the triumph of the spirit and the soul over the physical prison, the material world. *Queen’s personality is mostly of spiritual rebirth from her shell to the wide horizons of the world. Like a butterfly, she is now ready to spread her wings and discover how to fly. This butterfly costume creation is basically a manifestation of *Queen’s existence. It is to pay tribute to all of the women that is taking their times finding their own places under the sun. Metamorphosis is a slow process but it will all end up gallantly beautiful along the process. Photo by @marvin.quitalig |

| MISS GRAND NUEVA ECIJA Designer: Ryan Español SI MARIA, SI INDAY, AT ANG BUONG PAMILYA (Maria, Inday and Her Family) Inspired by the annual harvest of rice plants and other crops in Nueva Ecija. This national costume represents the typical life of a Novo Ecijano when it comes to farming. The costume showcases two strong ladies, Maria and Inday. Inday, wearing a golden shawl, features the masaganang ani of the bukirin, or the bounty harvest in the farm as she takes care and stores the harvest to make sure that there is sufficient food until the next one. The father and their son, wearing their sambalilo or a farmer’s hat, and riding on a carabao represent the traditional way of farming and the simple yet fulfilling life of being a farmer. The family is united as one in their humble home called bahay kubo. As Maria walks on stage, she brings pride, shows passion, and advocates the hard work in the field of farming. In times like this where the temperature becomes unbearable, an ordinary farmer continues to work extraordinarily in order to make sure that there is enough food on the plate to every member of his/her family.
